A superb Cased set of 6 pre War Military silver Menu Holders depicting the Badges of The Royal Air Force, The Grenadier Guards, The Scots Guards, The Coldstream Guards, The Royal Army Medical Corps and The Royal Artillery, on circular bases with serrated borders. Complete with original cream silk and velvet lined navy blue leather case retailed by ASPREY of London.

A good set of four early 20th century silver Menu Holders of pierced and cut-out outline form, depicting a Cockerel, a Pheasant, a Dog and a Rabbit, on plain oval bases.

By C & C Hodgetts, Birmingham 1912-13. (Two 1912 & two 1913, but all four with the same Registration No: 603046.

In fine condition with no damage or repair and of very nice quality.

The bases 43mm x28mm. 49 grams total weight.

NOVELTY RABBIT MENU HOLDER Sampson Mordan & Co 1911 Signed Benjamin Rabier

A rare George V novelty silver Menu Holder modelled as a rabbit sitting on its hind legs, with engraved decoration, the plain circular base with designer’s signature – Benjamin Rabier.
Benjamin Rabier (1864-1939) is a French illustrator, comic book artist and animator. He became famous for creating La vache qui rit, and is one of the precursors of animal comics. His work has inspired many other artists, notably Hergé and Edmond-François Calvo. Rabier started to work as an illustrator for various newspapers after meeting Caran d'Ache. His most famous creations are Gideon the duck and the characters he drew for Le roman de Renart.
